you take on the role of Edward C. Krause as the Lt. Colonel of the 505 th Parachute Infantry Regiment ,
which is part of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Your duty is to lead operation Detroit.
the Operation Detroit, is the insertion, by parachute and glider, of your Division into Normandy
on the night of 5–6 June 1944 as part of Operation Overlord.
Jointly with the parachute infantry regiments, the 507th and the 508th and reinforced glider
infantry regiment, the 325th, we will board hundreds of transport planes and gliders and will begin
the largest airborne assault in history.
The drop zone is around Sainte-Mére-Église,
an small town, in the Cotentin Peninsula near the coast of Normandy, France.
Taking this village , is important, because stood right in the middle of route N13, which the
Germans would have most likely used on any significant counterattack on the troops landing on
Utah and Omaha Beaches.
This will be our first town liberated in this invasion.
The objective is to secure the town of Sainte-Mére-Église and to
take the bridges along the Merderet River. By doing this, tanks and
the 4th Infantry Division coming in at Utah Beach would have easy access to making their way
northwards towards the ports at Cherbourg.
